Copyright & DMCA policy

ViewStage respects intellectual property rights and responds to clear notices of alleged copyright infringement under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).

Reporting copyright infringement

If you believe content on ViewStage infringes a copyright you own or are authorized to act for, send a written notice to our copyright agent at dmca@viewstage.io. To be effective under 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3), your notice must include:

  1. A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorized to act on their behalf.
  2. Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed.
  3. Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing, with enough detail for us to locate it (for example, the URL).
  4. Your name, address, telephone number, and email address.
  5. A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  6. A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or are authorized to act on the owner's behalf.

What happens next

When we receive a valid notice, we promptly remove or disable access to the material and make a good-faith effort to notify the user who posted it. We may also log the notice as part of our repeat-infringer recordkeeping.

Counter-notification

If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notice to dmca@viewstage.io that includes (per 17 U.S.C. § 512(g)):

  1. Your physical or electronic signature.
  2. Identification of the material that was removed and the location where it appeared before removal.
  3. A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
  4. Your name, address, and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for your district (or, if outside the U.S., any district in which ViewStage may be found) and that you will accept service of process from the person who filed the original notice.

Repeat infringers

It is our policy to suspend or terminate, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of users who are repeat infringers.

Misrepresentations

Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), anyone who knowingly materially misrepresents that material is infringing — or was removed by mistake — may be liable for damages. Please be sure before you file.
